1. Assessment
We meet with the customer to determine the needs and goals of the business. We ask, how we can best help reach those using the
web tools that we have?
2. Specifications
This step will determine the specifications (technical makeup) of the site. Do we use HTML or XML. Does the client want
Ajax or Flash? Does the client want video on the site? Which player? The list goes on. Most of this is for the purposes of
development, but we provide the technical documents to our clients as well. The tech specifications are then also incorporated into the body of the proposal. Once we have agreement and the client approves of the proposal, we go to the next step. A 50% deposit of the total purchase price is needed at this point.
3. Design and Development
Here we create a custom, orginal design. We then refine til the customer is satisfied. Once a design is approved, we begin to build a HTML framework. Then we go to the next step which is producing and finding content.
4. Content
This is one of the most important, if not the most important aspect of the site. How do we make the readers of the website interested in what the business is offering? We need relevant and eye-catching images. We need salient copywriting. We may also need forms, surveys, games, animations, and videos to get our point across. This is where most of the work on the project will actualy be. After this is done, we are asking for the second payment of 30% of the total purchase price.
5. Coding and Testing
At this point, we will have a prototype of the website for your review. From here on we code the content into the site. After this we test the prototype. Client comments are welcomed at this point. Here is where we make changes to the website content based on client comments and suggestions.
6. Launch
We launch the site (make the site live on the internet). The site is now usable and any additional bugs will be found and corrected within the next 2 weeks. After the two weeks, we ask the client to completely sign off on the project. The last payment of 20% is due. It is now almost complete.
7. Promotions
The site will be submitted to the top search engines. Any cross linkages between client website and partner websites will be created and we suggest that the URL, www.clientwebsite.com, be put on all collateral business materials. Further promotions will incur additional charges or we suggest working with a internet sales promotion company.
8. Maintenance
Just like with houses, your investment needs to be updated. Irrelevant content needs to be changed out, and your site may even need a minor design change, such as adding seasonal and/or holiday graphics or a change in the color scheme or even giving the site a completely new look. We can do all of this for reasonable maintenance charges.
If you have any questions, or if this process intrigues you in some way, please contact us. Thank you!
